Black and White Baby Shower

This Black and White Themed Baby Shower post was a much anticipated and delayed post. I have been so excited to share the details of this sweet shower with you all, but have been overwhelmed with summer activities already!

First of all, this shower theme would be perfect for a little boy or girl. It was easy to put together, seriously I think it took us a week to really plan, and its affordable too. We had so much fun planning. If you don’t already, follow along my sisters instagram for some amazing home inspiration. The shower was at her house and went perfect with her newly renovated home.

The balloon arch was our statement piece and perfect for the “Mom-Mosa Bar”. You can download my Mom-mosa BAR Print out here.

Balloon Arch Tutorial

To create the balloon arch, you need cardboard, balloons, tape, and a little patience. The first thing you want to do is create the overall shape with some cardboard. You can literally tear the cardboard. It won’t show much, so you don’t need to worry about it looking pretty. Next take a screw driver, or something sharp and poke holes about half an inch apart from each other.

Blow up balloons. Try to blow them up at different sizes. You want some large ones, medium ones, and small ones to fill in the gaps. Next pull the larger balloons tie through the holes. The holes should be small enough that they hold the balloons. If you need to secure the balloons more you can add a a little tape on the back.

Next hang the arch on your wall. We used nails, but if you don’t want to the holes, you can use a heavier duty tape, or command hooks. After the arch base is hung, you can use a gorilla tape, or heavy duty tape to hang the small and medium balloons in the holes, covering all of the cardboard. And thats it! So so easy and super affordable too. These cute Amazon Balloons are my favorite because of the texture and colors in the balloons.

My sister is a nerd (I love this about her by the way), so naturally we had to through a “Pi Bar” in there. The trick to a fun and unique shower is doing things that are out of the box. We used my sisters baking rack to pile these pies and we asked family and friends to bring some so we weren’t making a thousand pies beforehand. You could use a book shelf, bench, or dresser for this too! You can download my “Eat More Pie” sign here.

The grazing table was my absolute favorite part of the shower. We literally just piled the food all of the place. The trick to a good grazing table is throwing in some fun large statement fruits or veggies with lots of colors. We used large grapefruit and sliced them for that pop. You could use oranges, figs, or other citrus fruits for this effect.

I’ve shared my photo backdrop go to on instagram, but this is one of my easiest shower props. We spray painted pvc pipe and I use a curtain for the backdrop. This can be easily interchanged (especially if you just keep it white). I painted the “oh baby” on the curtain and I have others I fold up and use for other showers or events. You can use this inside by creating a cement base. I used coffee cans, qickcrete, and large pvc to create a base that the poles slide into and stand for indoor showers. If you are using the backdrop outside, you can purchase rebar that you pound into grass or dirt, and then the pvc slides on top.

Overall, this party was one for the books. We can’t wait to meet sweet Asher and welcome him into our crazy family!!
