How to Start Your Own Blog

In 5 Easy Steps

Its been two awesome years of Blogging! I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have had to share projects, our home, work with brands and companies I love, and ultimately share our little humble lives with you all. It has been such a blessing to have a place to share it all, and you have been so encouraging and supportive through everything.

For my two year Blog-Versary, I wanted to share the nitty gritty in starting your own blog.. if you are interested of course! When I first wanted to start a blog I was so nervous and wasn’t sure what was up from down. First of all, let me say  I had a couple Bloggers reach out and help me along my journey and it made a huge difference in my experience.  Now I want to pay it forward a little.  If you need any help in starting your own blog, or questions about doing so, You can contact me here!! I would love to help in any way I can.

Step One:

I use Blue Host! I love Blue Host and all they offer. They have great customer service reps and have helped me on multiple occasions. They have a special right now! So hop on that while it last.

Step Two:

This is your website name. Some are obviously taken already so be sure to check this before setting it all up and getting your heart set on a name.

Step Three:

You’ll see this option through your Blue Host account. Think of WordPress as your website builder. The tools you need for building your website are in WordPress. I knew nothing about building a website when I started, but WordPress has helped me learn new skills and build the exact site I wanted.

Step Four:

Your WordPress download will come with Free Theme options. Pick one that best suits your content and style. You can also search Pinterest for Theme Designs that cost very little.

Step Five:

Write awesome content and rock your new creative space!

After you have created your site, download plug ins. Plug ins are like apps within your site that allow you do things like add special forms, or add Pinterest buttons to your photos. There are plugins, “widgets” for almost anything. Your site can be anything your want it to be.

Happy Blogging Friends!

These are all my own opinions and the very basics of starting your own Blog. But if I could do it, anyone can.
