Entryway with OC Goodwill Items

Our entryway was outdated and I knew I wanted to keep the project affordable and easy! I purchased all of my items for this project from OC Goodwill saving me so much money!

Items to shop for when creating an entryway

You can find all of these items at your local OC Goodwill to create your own entryway

  • Table
  • Lamo
  • Rug
  • Baskets
  • Blankets or pillows for filling baskets
  • Accessories (bowls, hooks, wooden beads)
  • Frames or Mirror

The first part of the project was DIY batten board.

Here is what you need for that project

  • 1×4 Pine boards  (Measure your space for the length – top and bottom) and for slats in between, mine were 4 feet tall, length will vary with your space.
  • 1×3 pine boards for top lip shelf
  • Nail gun and compressor and nails
  • caulking
  • paint
  1. Cut 1×4 pieces to the length for the top and bottom of your space. Frame out area using wood, check that everything is level, and secure wood using nails.
  2. Measure space in between and divide based on how much width you want between slats. We did ours 12″ apart based on the space. Level out wood and secure slats using nails.
  3. Cut 1×3 to length of wall and lay on top of the 1×4 top piece. Secure using nails. You can use nail glue if you want extra security or will be using any weight on top of shelf.
  4. Caulk space giving a finished look. I used baby wipes when caulking and its been a game changer.
  5. Paint your wood first and walls in between to finish the project. We used “Simply White” by Benjamin Moore.

The Little Green Cabinet

This little cabinet was the find of the project. It was $29.99 and was small enough to fit in our space. I repainted it using “Pewter Green” by Sherman Williams, removed the glass and replaced it with this cane webbing.

Accessories Purchased

The frames were $5.99 each and had old bird pictures in them. I removed the backing and added these modern prints.

The rest of the accessories were all OC Goodwill items, and perfect for this space.

We extended the entryway to the left side of our door by adding batten board, these amazing hooks, and the cutest jute bag, also from OC Goodwill. This entryway is so much more open and made our ceilings look larger as well.

OC Goodwill Locations

You can check out the whole project in my instagram highlight Here are my top 5 favorite OC Goodwill locations.
