DIY Modern Vases with Fall Florals

DIY Modern Vase

These DIY modern vases are becoming quite a hit! I thought why not try it, and add some Fall florals to the mix. I am so impressed with how easy and affordable this project is. My friend Cynthia did this project with her kids, and I loved how it turned out.

These  Modern Vases from West Elm are gorgeous, but worth a pretty penny. You can get the same look for so much cheaper by making these DIY Modern Vases yourself.

What You Need for this Easy DIY:

  1. Thrifted glass Jars or vases
  2. Paint – I used Behr interior paint (Satin), but I know you can use Acrylic as well.
  3. Baking Soda

Steps:

  1. Mix 1/2 cup of paint with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.
  2. Mix paint thoroughly. You want a chalky, thick, clay-like consistency.
  3. Paint first coat using thin layer.
  4. After first coat, continue with multiple coats until desired look is achieved.

I told you! It really is that easy. You can find your vases at your local thrift store. I found all of mine at my OC Goodwill. You can see my top 5 favorite OC Goodwill stores here.

Fall Florals

I had a vision for these vases and wanted to use them for our fall mantel. When I saw this fall bouquet, I had to create something like it for my fall mantel.

After picking some of my florals from the side of the road. I dried them and hairsprayed them in place.

Some of the dried flowers are from Target and some at Hobby Lobby as well. Don’t they look great in these DIY modern vases?

Here are some of my favorite dried flowers from Target :
