My 2 Year Ikea Sofa Review

Ektorp Sofa

The first reaction I get from anyone when they see I have a white sofa with kids is “Wow, how do you keep that clean?”. The answer is simple. Bleach. Lots of bleach. You can also use Oxy Clean White Revival. I thought it was about time I did my 2 Year Ikea Sofa Review.

Our sofa is the Ektorp sofa from Ikea.  As I talked about in my One Year Review, my kids have spilled on the sofa, written on it, and stained it. The removable covers make taking it off and washing it easy!

Although, after two years of washing it once a month, I think it was starting to look a little shabby. I finally gave in last Christmas and asked for a new cover. The cover is only $149 at Ikea, which is why we went with the sofa we did. I love that we can replace the covers every few years and it feels like we have a brand new sofa.

The Ektorp sofa also has other covers in different shades if white isn’t your thing. They have a nice beige option that I actually love and have thought of purchasing as a back up. It’s only $49.

The one thing  you have to be careful of is ruining the inserts. The cushions you sit on are very sturdy, but the back cushions are a soft plush material, and if you are too rough on them they will tear. We have a small tear in one and it makes taking the covers on and off fragile.

Overall we are still so happy with our sofa and I love that I can remove and wash the cushions so easily. It’s comfy too!

  1. Ah … I love the white sofa covers. How do you keep them so clean with having children? 🙃
